WaveOptics, based in the UK, specialises in the development and production of waveguides for augmented reality (AR) devices.

Waveguides are a crucial component in AR systems, enabling the projection of digital images onto a user’s field of view in a way that blends seamlessly with the real world.

Being described as one of Britain’s most promising augmented reality companies by The Times.

Designing and producing advanced waveguides for AR headsets and smart glasses, enabling high-quality visual experiences by directing light from a display to the user’s eyes.

A leader in the AR waveguide industry, WaveOptics is continuously innovating to enhance the functionality and performance of its waveguides, this includes advancements in fields such as holography, diffractive optics, and nanotechnology.

The waveguides developed by WaveOptics are utilised in various applications, such as industrial maintenance, medical visualization, navigation, and gaming.

WaveOptics is part of Snap Inc, a global technology and social media company known for its Snapchat app, a multimedia messaging app that allows users to send photos and videos called Snaps that disappear after being viewed.

The app has over 800 million monthly active users. It empowers people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together. Snap camera supports visual communication in the digital world.

The Project:

WaveOptics has experienced rapid development and growth, necessitating an expansion to a 14,070 sq ft hightech, Grade A office space with a 250% increase in size.

WaveOptics has been located at Milton Park’s Innovation Centre in Oxfordshire, a leading science park since 2016.

The expansion has seen the company expand from a smaller unit on the site to a larger hi-tec facility to further support and nurture this pioneering company’s continued business growth.

Enhancing the safety and functionality of the cleanroom environment for the customer by providing a reliable means of escape while maintaining contamination control.

PBSC’s panels help ensure the safety of personnel and the integrity of the cleanroom during emergencies.

Taking approximately 6 seconds to entirely remove the lightweight panel will provide a fast means of personnel escape for the customer when needed.

Featuring the customers requirements of an opaque panel, a polished satin finish and 1000mm clear opening.

PBSC’s hatches are an essential component for the customer, maintaining the efficiency and contamination control of WaveOptics cleanroom environments.

PBSC’s pass through hatches reduced the risk of physical movement or transfer of harmful bacteria and pressure loss when transferring equipment between different classification areas, designed for easy cleaning and maintenance.

The trolley/floor mounted version is fixed directly to the customers finished floor, providing a clean and uninterrupted floor through the hatch.

The fire rated version is designed to be located in a fire wall and is tested and certified, with integrity from 60 to 90 minutes.

2 x 3 Man Air Showers PD-Ai

PBSC's air shower, air shower, personnel shower, decon shower, decontamination shower, decontamination, cleanroom, cleanroom shower, PBSC’s Air Shower is a specialised chamber designed to reduce contaminants from people or objects before entering a cleanroom or controlled environment.

The customer required 3-man units, each unit consisted of 27 adjustable stainless steel nozzles on both side walls, 54 nozzles in total.

When the shower cycle is started by the operative, the shower controls lock the doors and run the fans to provide the airflow, maintaining the efficiency and contamination control of the customer’s cleanroom environment.

The shower had the final assembly in place and required no cranes or special access on-site as the largest piece fit through a single doorway.

The air shower now plays a critical role in maintaining the customer’s cleanliness and controlling contamination.
