BESPOKE KIOSK SOLUTION DESIGNED FOR A CUSTOMER IN HEALTHCARE

Design Goal

The customer was looking for a robust and reliable kiosk system with a large screen and a touch interface. The system required custom metalwork, an embedded PC system with a 21.3-inch touch screen. Initial prototype designs were created using Solidworks, and a one-off prototype was built. initial considerations we robustness due to constant customer interaction, reliable touch screen with smash-resistant front panels, weight for ease of movement as well as overall strength and speed of operation. Using our knowledge of industrial computing, a board was selected that was cost-efficient, and low power but fast enough to cope with running a full copy of Windows and the target application. Other factors to consider were long-term production and support of both the touch panels, screens and embedded boards, redesigns due to parts issues can be costly.

The customer was delighted with the prototype, so production systems were commissioned in batches of 50 units which are manufactured at our custom-made facility in Westerham.
